It helps restore the function of the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles and ligaments) The aim is to relieve pain and get you going again as quickly as possible. Patients of all ages can obtain benefit. The treatment is tailored to suit. The Treatment
Osteopathic treament consists of gentle manipulation and stretching of the muscles, ligaments and joints. Treatment is not painful and rarely uncomfortable. Ashling sometimes incorporates Cranial Osteopathy and/or Medical Acupuncture, as the individual treatment dictates.
Conditions treated by Osteopaths
Osteopathic treatment can help many musculoskeletal conditions. These include the common aches and pains due to strains, falls and overuse, as well as the more long-term back and neck probems. It can often alleviate the problems associated with stress and tension including chronic headaches. For pregnant women it can help with optimal positioning of the baby, ready for labour and also help nausea, coccyx pain, back and neck pain, etc.
For the baby osteopathy can help relieve birth trauma, feeding and sleeping problems, colic and "funny-shaped" heads.
Ashling also runs 5 week courses teaching parents to massage their babies - which is also a chance to meet other parents in your area. The massage class is followed by a post-natal discussion session, covering topics such as feeding, sleeping, returning to work etc.
