FONT FACE=Verdana size=3 color=#800080>After qualifying in structural osteopathy, I undertook postgraduate training in cranial osteopathy and use both according to a patient's needs.

As well as treating adults I have a special interest in babies & children, and am one of few qualified Children's Osteopaths with a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy (DPO).

I have worked with premature babies in the intensive care, neonatal unit and children's ward of a London hospital and in a children's osteopathic clinic.

I also treat expectant mothers for aches & pains in pregnancy, and offer mother & baby checks, working closely with midwives and Helath Visitors.

CRANIAL OSTEOPATHY is a very gentle technique suitable for all ages from newborn to the very old, and is the technique used on babies and children. Using highly trained palpatory skills, areas of tension and restriction within the body are identified and gently released, to restore a state of balance within the musculoskeletal system of the body. Treatment is aimed not only at the relief of symptoms, but towards helping the body function better in all respects.

Osteopaths are increasingly being asked to treat babies and children, and for a parent the treatment is particularly welcome, as it does not involve the use of any drugs and is non invasive.

Paediatric osteopathy is based on the principle that all ailments whether minor or serious are as a result of an imbalance somewhere in the network of the body's systems.

A Qualified Paediatric Osteopath will use manual techniques to bring about profound changes within the child's body through gentle manipulation. This will allow the different body systems (the nervous system, the immune system, the muscular system and the circulatory system) to work effectively.

It is also helpful for expectant mothers to relieve aches and pains during pregnancy.

I also offer new-mother and baby checks, to ensure that baby is OK and to help the mother by releasing strains caused by both pregnancy and labour.

OSTEOPATHY is a safe, natural approach to health care which looks at the whole patient, not simply treating the problem but improving the underlying health of the tissues. Osteopathic treatment is aimed at releasing stresses and strains which have accumulated in the body over many years, improving mobility and circulation to all parts of the body and promoting general well-being. By easing old strains the joints are able to work in a more balanced fashion. Osteopathy can reduce pain, ease swelling and improve both mobility and range of joint movement. Often the need for joint replacement surgery can be delayed, and if surgery is finally needed, the body tissues are generally in better health and recovery swifter. Osteopathy can also help with rehabilitation following surgery.

Back pain is one of the main reasons for absence from work, and can be severe and debilitating.

Back pain may not always occur immediately after injury as the body is good at adapting to injuries and accommodating them, however the disruption to spinal mechanics can lead to a build up of strain and tension over time, and these stresses within the body often cause problems in other areas as well as the back, such as undue fatigue, mood swings, depression, disturbed sleep, headache, period problems, digestive problems and vulnerability to infections due to a depleted immune system. Many of these improve during a course of osteopathic treatment.

OTHER CONDITIONS osteopathy can help with are neck & shoulder pain, Sciatica and Fibromyalgia, Frozen shoulder and Whiplash, Arthritic stiffness and Rheumatic pain, and minor sports injuries. It is used to treat digestive and circulatory problems, aches and pains in pregnancy.
