ABOUT ANN

After four years full time training I qualified with an Honours degree in Osteopathy in 1995 and registered with the GOsC. As well as the required 30 hours continued professional development each year, I have attended many post graduate courses as I am curious to understand many facets of osteopathy and develop my skill. In 2010 I became a member of the Sutherland Cranial College.

I joined Castle Street Clinic in 1998 after 4 years in a clinic in Hatfield specialising in paediatrics and difficult cases. I have yoga teacher training and find this approach to restoring function very beneficial in helping patientsí rehabilitation following treatment.

I enjoy working with people of all ages, including children and those who require special care

ABOUT OSTEOPATHY

A healthy body will absorb some stress and strain but over time this can accumulate, the effects can last, and pain or illness results.

Osteopaths are trained to use a very highly developed sense of touch as well as knowledge and skill to evaluate the problem. Areas of tension within the body can be detected and resolved to restore balance and harmony. Our clinical training ensures that unsuitable conditions for osteopathic treatment are recognised and referred for further investigation.

Osteopathy is proven to be very safe and effective and in recognising that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. Gentle manipulative techniques return the body to a more effective way of functioning.

CRANIAL OSTOPATHY

I am a highly qualified practitioner of Cranial osteopathy with many years experience. Cranial Osteopathy uses the same osteopathic principles to treat the whole body, not just the head. It is one form of osteopathic treatment amongst many and effective for many different problems. It is particularly gentle and suitable for most people regardless of age, including very young babies.

ABOUT TREATMENT

Treatment involves gentle touch to some parts of your body and it is not unusual for other areas to be treated than where symptoms are experienced. Patients often feel relaxed after a treatment and you may experience relief after the initial consultation, however usually 2 or 3 treatments are advised and more may be beneficial for long-term improvement, depending on the problem.

Osteopathy is very effective in treating some sporting injuries as well as internal organs and the musculoskeletal system. There are many conditions that can be helped not only back pain, however, if you are unsure whether it is right for you please call and speak to me personally.

YOUR APPOINTMENT AND FEES

Appointments last about forty minutes, when a detailed case history is taken involving the reason for your visit as well as your general health and accidents and illnesses you have previously experienced. All symptoms are considered relevant when evaluating the problem as osteopaths treat the person not the condition and everyone is unique. We are trained to look for the cause of problem to evaluate health, not only address the symptoms.

On the first visit you will be asked to undress to your underwear, after that it is not usually necessary.

FEES:

ADULT

First Consultation £48

Subsequent Appointments £44

CHILD Up to and including 6 years

First Consultation £44

Subsequent Appointments £38

Please pay on the day of treatment either by cheque or cash. Receipts are available for you to claim reimbursement through private healthcare insurance.
