What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is recognised as an effective treatment for a wide range of painful disorders. It works by helping to restore the function of the musculoskeletal system (muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments);. The aim is to relieve pain and get you going again as quickly as possible. Patients of all ages can usually obtain benefit.

The treatment is tailored to suit your individual needs and will usually include gentle manipulation or mobilisation of restricted joints and relaxation of tight muscles. Treatment should not be painful and is rarely uncomfortable.

Conditions treated by osteopaths

Osteopathic treatment can help many musculoskeletal conditions. These include common aches and pains due to strains, falls and overuse, as well as both short- and long-term back and neck probems. It can often alleviate the problems associated with stress and tension, including chronic headaches.

Who am I?

Following a first degree in Physical Education and many years travelling and working in the sports and leisure industries, I qualified as an osteopath in 2003, after four-and-a-half years of training. I now work widely in the North Cornwall area, offering a popular home visit service as well as regular clinics in both Wadebridge and Bude. I also hold a teaching qualification and currently teach basic sciences to adult education groups in Camelford and Bude. This combination of work experiences enables me to do more than just explain and treat your symptoms and their cause. I can also offer comprehensive advice on managing your complaint through exercise and lifestyle changes.

I am married to Jo, who is a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and we have a very cheeky daughter called Maia. In our spare time, we like to make the most of our beautiful surroundings - surfing, walking and cycling.
